Drugs said "jump" and I would say "how high?"
NOWI have my eyes on my hobbies and goals again, which I forgot about for months |
First Let'sMeet Em
I have been drinking and drugging since I was about 14 years old. My drugs of choice are cocaine and alcohol. Substances took over my life slowly then suddenly I went from a "recreational" drug user to an everyday user. I couldn't function without them. I lived to use and used to live; I couldn't live that lifestyle anymore. In April 2020, my life changed by going to inpatient treatment in Pennsylvania.

Now let's TalkGenetics and Environment
"Genetics loads the gun, environment pulls the trigger." This quote embedded itself into my head because it's an accurate representation of my story. Addiction runs in my family, so there's the genetics, followed by being in an environment of careless "friends." My mom always said, "show me your friends and I'll show you your future." Quickly I became just like them, using everyday.

IT'S UP TO USChange
YOU are responsible for your own recovery. I rebuilt my life on the solid foundation of rock bottom. I had to swallow my pride and ask for help. If you want a change, then you have to work for that change. I had to get comfortable being uncomfortable. Where is the growth in being comfortable all the time? Addiction is a disease and it's a battle everyday. However, it's a battle I'm willing to fight.
